Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ”

“The Passion of the Christ”, which will be opening Ash Wednesday, is a prophetic meditation on the “Love of Christ”. Cardinal Hoyas hails it as “a triumph of art and faith”. The Pope declared: “It is as it was”. The Pope has declared 2004 as “the year of grace”, where mankind has an opportunity to avert justice by turning away from rebellion, and

towards Love!

As the TOWER OF BABEL continues to rise as man chooses to usurp God’s authority and set himself up as master of the destiny of others inasmuch as he arbitrarily chooses who he will allow to live and whom he will send to their death. America is allowing defenseless human beings to be killed by cloning, in vitro fertilization, cryopreservation, contraception, abortion, nuclear transfer, etc. No scientist or doctor can claim by his scientific competence to be able to decide on another human being’s origin or destiny. The Church must rise up in defense of the “Child in the Dish”. We must repent and walk in the Light of Truth before the darkness of evil extinguishes the flame. The Pope exhorts: “We cannot practice the Gospel of Life only as a private piety. It must be lived vigorously and publicly as a matter of national leadership and witness or it is not lived at all”.

The sin of sodomy also knocks as America marches toward Gomorrah. We preach freedom and democracy to the world and yet we have used these esthetics as a panacea for immorality. Our democracy will “rise or fall with the values which it embodies and promotes”.

I fear for America, for we have made an unholy alliance with the unholy trinity, “me, myself and I” in our public policies. As George Orwell put it “In our time political speech and writing are largely the defense of the indefensible”.
