With some 500 Pro-Lifers in attendance, the Bishop's 11th
Annual Respect Life Rally hosted by the Most Reverend
Robert Muench, Bishop of Baton Rouge was a great success.

Several members of Knights of Columbus from across the
state were in attendance, most notably State Deputy Steve
Thomas and his wife.

Ed Jeanfreau, DD VI, State Pro-Life Chairman and Director of
Knights for Life (above) had the honor of speaking to the
assembly ahead of Fr. Frank Pavone, who was the keynote speaker.

Jeanfreau spent time introducing the Purpose and Objectives of
Knights for Life. He also urged Bishop Muench and all Bishops to

Fr. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life spoke about
the critical importance of the upcoming fall elections and how the
Pro-Life vote can make the difference.

Commenting on how the liberal media falsely accuse him
of leading a "Vatican takeover" of the US government,
Fr. Pavone answered that he is helping to lead an
"American takeover" of the US government. One where the
Constitutional Right to LIFE will once again be honored for
all persons regardless of age creed or color; and not
discriminating between whether they are born or waiting to be born.

Fr. Pavone (above) took time to speak about the
American Holocaust Memorial which he toured for the
first time nearly 10 years ago. Father told how one of the
most moving experiences of his priesthood was when he
celebrated the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the new
Chapel of the former holocaust chamber.

Keith Horcasitas, Baton Rouge diocesan Coordinator
for Knights for Life also is a long-time board member
of the American Holocaust Memorial in Baton Rouge
and had the opportunity to take students on a tour of the
Memorial that weekend.

There were only a few minutes available to meet directly with
Fr. Pavone. Kevin Jeanfreau, deputy director of Knights for Life
presented to Father several KFL documents, as well as his own

Other Knights for Life in attendance were Dr. Wilton Bergeron,
of Lafayette; Roy Lemoine, KFL Area Coordinator in Lafayette
and his wife; Paul Bergeron, KFL Area Coordinator in Baton
Rouge; Chuck Ferry, KFL Area Coordinator in Kenner and his
wife.

Fr. Pavone was the homilist at all of The Masses at
neighboring St. John the Evangelist parish in Prairieville.
Several Knights attended the 4:30 p.m. vigil on the 10th,
which was the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord. This turned
out to be a very special celebration because not only did Father
preach a powerful homily on LIFE, he also assisted in the
Baptism of a new baby girl during the Mass. This was a very
special and unique Celebration of The Mass to be in attendance.

Dr. Bergeron has been involved in Pro-Life work since the 1970's and was a leader in the Governors Abstinence Program in the Foster administration.
